Job summary

Texas State Technical College (TSTC) is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Manager to lead the organization’s EHS programs and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental standards. You will drive risk assessment and mitigation for hazardous materials, waste disposal, and industrial operations while protecting the environment and the community.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental health and safety, emergency management, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related field.
Eight years of progressive experience in environmental health and safety.
Experience managing EHS programs for multi-site organizations.
2–3 years of administrative or operational experience.
2–3 years staff management experience.
Experience developing and managing budgets.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Manage and administer environmental health and safety programs across the organization to ensure adherence to all applicable environmental and occupational safety regulations.
Develop and implement processes to identify, evaluate, and mitigate environmental and safety risks related to hazardous materials, waste management, and operational activities.
Review environmental incidents and accident reports to determine root causes and establish corrective and preventive action plans.
Monitor and interpret changes in environmental and safety laws, regulations, and industry standards; update internal policies, procedures, and practices accordingly.
Design and deliver training and education programs to increase employee awareness of environmental policies, compliance requirements, and organizational safety standards.
Partner with operational and departmental leaders to integrate EHS practices into daily workflows, projects, and long-term planning initiatives.
Prepare compliance reports, maintain required documentation, and support internal and external audits to ensure organizational transparency and accountability.
