Job summary

GenScript USA Inc/ProBio Inc. in New Jersey seeks a Sr. EHS Manager to lead the site EHS program for plasmid DNA, viral vectors, and biologics, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, NJDEP, and other regulations.

This role shapes safety culture, oversees biosafety in BSL-2 operations, risk assessments, CAPA, audits, training, and emergency response. Ten-plus years of EHS leadership in biotech/pharma desired; CSP/CIH/CHMM or similar preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.
• 10+ years of site-level EHS experience in biotech/pharma/CDMO environment.
• Experience with biologics or viral vector operations (BSL-2, GMP).
• Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910, RCRA, CAA/CWA, DOT HazMat; biosafety standards.
• Certifications: CSP, CIH, CHMM, RBP/CBSP preferred.
• Strong cross-functional communication and practical EHS solutions.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the site EHS Management System in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and NJ regulations.
• Develop, maintain, implement EHS policies and programs.
• Lead environmental compliance: waste, wastewater, air emissions, reporting, NJDEP permits.
• Oversee biosafety programs for BSL-2/BSL-2+ plasmid and lentiviral operations.
• Ensure safe handling of viral vectors, biological materials, chemicals, LN2, and compressed gases.
• Plan industrial hygiene assessments and occupational health programs.
• Lead EHS risk assessments, investigations, CAPA, track KPIs.
• Deliver EHS onboarding and training; coach leadership.
• Represent EHS during audits, inspections; support quality agreements.
• Own the site Emergency Response Plan and coordinate drills.
