Job summary

ERM in Rochester, NY seeks a Managing Consultant, Scientist, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to lead complex programs across the transaction lifecycle. You will shape EHS strategy, drive compliance initiatives, and mentor project teams while partnering with clients and global experts to deliver practical, compliant solutions.

You'll oversee due diligence, support post-close integration, and contribute to business development, with travel up to 30% domestically and a base salary in the shown

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, safety, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in EHS compliance, management systems, sustainability programs, and permitting advisory services.
• Strong technical expertise in environmental and/or safety disciplines (e.g., air quality, stormwater, SPCC, hazardous waste).
• Demonstrated leadership, project oversight, and client-facing delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver EHS compliance audits, assessments, and corrective actions across client operations
• Manage and deliver complex due diligence projects (multi-site) per ASTM Phase I and global protocols
• Oversee multiple projects end-to-end within scope, schedule, and budget
• Collaborate with Partners-in-Charge and global teams to resource and deliver projects
• Develop and implement EHS management systems and regulatory compliance programs
• Provide on-site technical support and compliance expertise at client facilities
• Advise clients on EHS risks, liabilities, and opportunities in transactions
• Prepare clear reports evaluating liabilities, compliance status, and risks
• Mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative team
• Collaborate across ERM’s global network to share best practices
