Job summary

Heron Power, a startup building advanced power electronics, seeks an EHS Manager to lead the Environment, Health & Safety function across R&D, NPI, manufacturing, and field service. You will build and manage a team, set program strategy, and serve as the authority on safety culture, regulatory compliance, and risk management at all sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in EHS within manufacturing/R&D/energy tech environment, plus 2+ years in people management.
• Knowledge of Cal/OSHA Title 8, 29 CFR 1910, NFPA 70E, RCRA, Title 22.
• Experience with JHA, arc flash studies, and site EHS audits.
• Proficiency with SDS management, waste manifest tracking, and compliance calendars.
• Experience building and developing EHS teams; hiring and performance reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of site hazard analyses, JHA, and safe work procedures for high‑voltage labs and manufacturing.
• Manage field service safety program and pre‑deployment safety measures at customer sites.
• Oversee safety assessments of production controls; align with manufacturing on safety documentation workflows.
• Direct EHS inspections, NFPA 70E audits, and corrective action handling.
• Manage hazardous waste program including tracking, reporting, and agency relationships.
• Own chemical inventory management, SDS library, and regulatory screening.
• Lead regulatory submissions as signatory and liaison with authorities.
• Establish and govern equipment safety reviews; ensure action closure with leadership.
