Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to lead contractor management and deliver proactive EHS support across a fast-paced organization. The role requires interfacing with field teams, leadership, and operations domestically and internationally.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in EHS, strong regulatory knowledge, and certifications are preferred. Willingness to travel extensively and relocate if needed is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years designing, developing and overseeing EHS programs and operations.
• Experience managing contractor safety programs.
• 5+ years in high-risk or industrial environments.
• Ability to work autonomously and make field decisions.
• Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
• Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA and international EHS regs.
• Certifications CSP/CIH/CHMM preferred.
• Excellent organizational, presentation, training and communication skills.
• Experience interpreting and applying federal, state and local safety regulations.
• Experience with emergency response and incident management.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite.
• Willingness to travel 50%+ domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement contractor management safety programs across the organization.
• Collaborate with supply, legal and operational partners to drive program success.
• Provide expert EHS support to the Business Operations team as a safety partner.
• Travel to engage with suppliers, contractors and internal teams as needed.
• Conduct site assessments, audits, hazard analyses and safety inspections with minimal oversight.
• Develop safety programs, training and risk mitigation tailored to operations.
• Respond to urgent safety concerns and support incident investigations across locations.
• Promote a strong safety culture while balancing operational timelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
