Job summary

Genentech, a Roche company, is seeking a Senior EHS Specialist, Associate Biosafety Officer to support the biosafety program at the South San Francisco campus and network. You will combine biosafety expertise with practical problem-solving to mitigate risks and protect people and the environment.

The role requires hands-on laboratory biosafety experience, a bachelor's degree in biology or microbiology, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with the Institutional Biosafety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology or microbiology or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant biosafety/EHS experience in a biological lab.
• Experience with IBC and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate Biosafety Program and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) operations.
• Serve as the primary liaison for IBC protocol reviews, approvals, and renewals.
• Provide expert guidance to researchers during protocol pre-reviews to resolve compliance concerns.
• Manage assigned medium-risk EHS programs by aligning daily operations with long-term SSHE goals.
• Validate biosafety program implementation through post-approval monitoring, site inspections, and follow-up activities.
• Drive committee effectiveness by preparing agendas, recording deliberations, and generating annual leadership summaries.
• Exercise independent, data-driven judgment to solve complex problems while collaborating cross-functionally to deliver integrated EHS solutions.
