Job summary

FiscalNote seeks an experienced journalist to direct its coverage of the interactions among the executive, legislative, and judicial branches from its CQ Roll Call brands in Washington, DC. You will lead a team, generate distinctive story ideas and produce multi-platform content.

You will oversee data-driven reporting, craft enterprise pieces, and collaborate across CQ Roll Call to illuminate the relationships shaping policy and politics.

Qualifications

• Submit four published writing samples from newspapers, news websites or news magazines.
• Based in Washington, DC with daily reporting from the Capitol.
• Base salary range for the position is $110,000 - 135,000 per year.
• Role focuses on reporting, editing and shaping coverage across branches.

Responsibilities

• Conceive, assign and edit sharply focused news and enterprise stories.
• Coach and manage a team of political reporters.
• Produce content for video, audio and graphics across platforms.
• Collaborate with CQ Roll Call reporters and editors on cross-cut stories.
• Edit stories in a second-edit capacity as needed.
• Analyze data from CQ and Factba.se to inform stories.
• Oversee Factba.se and its By the Numbers newsletter.
• Develop products around Factba.se, CQ Vote Studies and other databases.
• Work with production teams to ensure smooth workflow.
• Amplify CQ Roll Call journalism through social media and events.
