The Register is looking for an experienced editor based in the US to help shape the future of the publication while upholding the highest standards of accuracy, depth, and humor. Do you have passionate opinions about Linux distros? Learn new programming languages for fun? Yearn to skewer tech marketing hype?

This could be your dream job.

In this role, you will:

• Help the editor-in-chief vet pitches and conduct developmental edits of stories in progress, with an eye toward technical accuracy, organization, and style.
• Manage a team of reporters spread across the US.
• Identify budding trends and coverage gaps and help come up with strategies to fill them.
  
• Come up with great headlines.
• Optionally report and write.

Job requirements:

• At least five years' experience writing and reporting for a publication focused on information technology.
• Experience editing and managing reporters.
• A calm head, collegial attitude, and quick wit.
• Live and can legally work in the US.
• Experience as an IT practitioner or in another technical role is a huge plus.
