Overview

The Senior Editor works closely with the Managing Editor or Director of Editorial to collaborate with fellow editors, writers, and project managers. The role ensures work is error-free and accurately referenced. The ideal candidate has an editorial background, understands the medical/pharmaceutical advertising industry, and is familiar with AMA style. This position involves working on print and digital content, adhering to various client/brand style guides, and handling both patient- and HCP-specific content. Note: This role does not require writing.

Responsibilities
  • Proofread and copy edit print and digital materials, including PowerPoints, websites, banner ads, Detail Aids, Sell Sheets, summaries, emails, and meeting materials.
  • Verify data accuracy through fact-checking against source documents.
  • Ensure materials follow agency or client editorial style guides.
  • Manage multiple tasks and prioritize based on deadlines.
  • Attend meetings or kickoffs as needed.
  • Maintain brand style guidelines proactively.
  • Request and track permissions.
  • Manage freelancers or other editors in the absence of the Managing Editor or Director.
Skills
  • Working knowledge of AMA Manual of Style, 10th edition.
  • Excellent proofreading, copy editing, and fact-checking skills.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat and ProofHQ.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to handle multiple projects and adapt to various editorial styles.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree; degrees in journalism, English, or biological sciences preferred.
  • 3-5 years of editorial experience.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro and comfort with new technology.
  • Confidence in medical subject matter.
  • High standards, professionalism, and attention to detail.
