Job summary

AgZen, Inc. is seeking a Senior Perception Engineer in Somerville, MA to own and develop the perception platform for precision spraying.

You will work at the intersection of agrochemicals, ML, and computer vision to enable real-time decisions on edge devices. You will design and deploy end-to-end CV pipelines, collaborate with hardware and product teams, and push innovations in CNNs and model quantization to reduce chemical and water use while maintaining yield.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in CS/EE or related field.
• 5+ years in computer vision/perception with deep learning.
• Experience with real-time or edge inference and hardware integration.
• Ability to design experiments, analyze results, iterate quickly.
• Deep CV experience: detection, segmentation, classification in real-world settings.
• End-to-end CV pipelines across multiple models and stages.
• Proficient in MLOps and experiment tracking tools.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and Python DL frameworks.
• Active engagement with AI research and applicable publications.
• Experience operating data/ML pipelines for reliability and observability.
• Clear communication with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced computer vision models for real-time spraying systems.
• Implement deep-learning tasks: segmentation, classification, optical flow, 3D reconstruction.
• Architect end-to-end models and merge networks for performance.
• Use quantization for power-efficient edge deployment.
• Improve model accuracy and inference speed on edge devices.
• Build data processing and annotation pipelines with software team.
• Collaborate with hardware/firmware/product teams for integration.
• Analyze field performance and validate updates via experiments.
• Establish best practices for versioning, testing, deployment, and CV model improvements.
• Communicate progress, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
• Stay updated on CNNs, transformers, and model quantization research.
