Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an Electronics QA Engineer in Irvine, CA to plan and execute durability, electrical, and functional validation testing for ECUs. You will collaborate with HW/SW teams to develop test plans, fixtures, and scripts, and ensure traceability through requirements management and version control.

The role emphasizes data analytics, risk assessment, and root cause analysis, with travel as needed for cross‑functional meetings.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience testing automotive or Aerospace/Defense products.
• 3+ years of related experience designing and developing electronics products.
• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with laboratory testing and equipment, including bench‑level, thermal chamber, electrical, and EMC testing.
• Soldering and harness fabrication experience preferred.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with Software, Electrical, and Design teams.
• Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 testing laboratory requirements.
• Familiarity with ISO 16750‑2 and ISO 21780 electrical test standards.
• Working knowledge of CAN, CAN‑FD, LIN, and FlexRay automotive communication systems.
• Ability to read and understand technical specifications, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• LabVIEW, TestStand, and CAPL programming skills preferred.
• Ability to analyze product requirements and determine test strategies.
• Working knowledge of requirements management tools such as JIRA and JAMA.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis
• Willingness to travel as needed to meet with cross‑functional teams

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute durability, electrical, and functional validation testing for component-level ECUs, focusing on electrical stress testing.
• Develop detailed test plans, test scripts, and test fixtures with HW/SW design teams.
• Establish traceability using requirements management tools and version control.
• Develop test strategies and test cases; review functional and environmental test plans.
• Provide data analytics from conducted tests.
• Create test development and execution schedules.
• Investigate test failures through data analysis and failure reproduction.
• Identify and assess risks affecting project timing, cost, or quality.
• Improve the safety, performance, and customer satisfaction of Rivian products.
• Collaborate with Design and Engineering teams
