Job summary

Amazon in Seattle is seeking a Senior Economist to lead high-impact economic analysis and modeling that informs decision making across the Stores business. You will own end-to-end research, from problem formulation to stakeholder communication, in pricing, demand estimation, and experiment design.

The ideal candidate has a PhD in Economics, strong causal inference, and proficiency in Python or R, with experience mentoring others and communicating complex results to non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

• PhD in economics or equivalent.
• Experience in econometrics (program evaluation, forecasting, time series, panel data, or high dimensional problems).
• Experience working with software developers and product managers.
• Experience in building statistical models using R, Python, STATA, or related software.

Responsibilities

• Develop economic models and empirical analyses to inform strategic decisions.
• Design and analyze experiments; translate findings into clear recommendations.
• Own end-to-end research from problem formulation to stakeholder communication.
• Mentor junior economists and raise the bar on economic rigor.
