Job summary

Fusion People Ltd. is seeking a Senior Ecologist for a rail-industry contract. The role is initially until April 2027 with a hybrid pattern: three days on-site at York/Leeds/Newcastle/Doncaster sites, and two days remote.

The contract carries IR35 in scope and a pay rate of 385 umbrella. Responsibilities include ecological surveys, taxonomy, and habitat assessment; data analysis using specialist software; and preparing reports with site-specific recommendations for environmental impact and

Senior Ecologist

Rail industry

Contract Length: Initially until April 2027

Location: York, Leeds, Newcastle or Doncaster - 3 days on site or office / 2 days from home

IR35: In scope

Pay Rate: 385 umbrella

Description:
  • Survey ecosystems and assess the diversity, profusion and behaviour of the different organisms within them.
  • Conduct field surveys to collect biological information about the numbers and distribution of organisms.
  • Carry out taxonomy, classification of organisms, applying sampling strategies and employing a range of habitat survey techniques.
  • Aerial photography, maps carrying, environmental impact assessment, analysing and interpreting data, using specialist software programs.
  • Work on habitat management and creation, write reports and issue recommendations.
Minimum Requirement:
  • Previous rail experience in preferred
  • Experienced and confident, comfortable working across senior management and front-line staff
  • Able to influence and collaborate across different disciplines and adapt to that.
More details:
  • Travel to various sites across North & East and East Coast will be required, along with undertaking field assessments/reports.
  • Full/associate/graduate membership of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) (depending on experience/or working towards)
