Job summary

The VA Saint Louis Health Care System is seeking a skilled GS-9 Medical Instrument Technician (Echocardiography) at John Cochran Medical Center. You will perform comprehensive echocardiogram procedures including transthoracic and transesophageal imaging, and stress studies, applying deep cardiac anatomy knowledge to diagnostic imaging.

Applicants with pending education or licensure may be referred; BCLS/ACLS are desirable with strong echocardiography experience expected.

Qualifications

• US citizenship requirement clearly stated.
• Education substitutions allowed at GS-4/5 levels per qualification standard.
• Licensure/certification not required but desirable; BCLS/ACLS preferred.
• Proficiency in English is mandatory for communications.

Responsibilities

• Perform full spectrum echocardiogram procedures including transthoracic 2D/3D imaging.
• Conduct 2D/3D transesophageal echocardiography and stress echocardiograms (doppler and ischemic).
• Apply advanced knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology to cardiovascular assessments.
• Demonstrate capability to adapt imaging techniques to patient needs and ensure diagnostic quality.
