Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation is seeking an electrician to modify, rebuild, or overhaul electronic and electrical equipment and controls. You will apply electrical theory to diagnose malfunctions and restore operation, while following safety rules and company procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan details of working procedure by determining replacement needs or new material and develop a logical approach to correct the problem.
• Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service, or replace electronic devices and systems.
• Receive wiring diagrams, specifications, and instructions from supervisor and schedule repairs, installation, and electrical inspection work.
• Perform work requiring knowledge of electrical theory and principles, start up/shutdown per safety procedures and MSHA/OSHA requirements.
• Service electronic equipment by testing, replacing faulty components, circuits, and PCBs.
• Install, repair, and maintain communication and power distribution cables; splice as required.
• Fabricate parts if not commercially available using shop tools.
• Advise operators about potential electrical problems and safety hazards.
• Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective actions.
• Maintain punctuality and meet performance expectations; comply with safety and environmental policies.

Job description

Modify, rebuild, or overhaul electronic and electrical equipment and controls. Apply knowledge of electric theory and electronic principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation.

Essential Functions

• Plan details of working procedure by determining replacement needs or new material required and develop a logical approach to correct the problem.
• Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service, or replace electronic devices and systems.
• Receive wiring diagrams, specifications, and instructions from supervisor and schedule repairs, installation, and electrical inspection work to be performed.
• Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of materials, and principles of operation of electrical equipment. Start up and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with MSHA and OSHA requirements.
• Service electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuits, printed circuit boards, and similar electronic devices.
• Installs, repairs, and maintains communication cables, power distribution cables. Splice pieces as required.
• Fabricate parts if not commercially available, using machine and hand tools common to the trade.
• Determine need for, analyze, and make necessary running adjustments, repairs, and overhauls.
• Advise and caution operator and mechanics about potential electrical problems and inherent dangers involved.
• Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous electrical equipment noted and corrective action taken.
• Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
• Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
• Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.
• Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

• Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists.
