Job summary

ECOM in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Electrical Designer to lead design and drafting for plant, pipeline, and related facilities construction projects.

You will be responsible for tagging and numbering electrical equipment, conduits, and cables, and drafting changes to record drawings. The role requires producing PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, and equipment lists, and coordinating with vendors and project managers.

Qualifications

• Must have senior level experience.
• Strong drafting and design capability in instrumentation and electrical systems.
• Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment layouts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate project design and drafting management to ensure successful completion of project activities.
• Assign electrical equipment and instrument tagging numbers; assign conduit and cable numbers; draft changes to record drawings.
• Prepare PFDs, P&IDs, general equipment layouts, facility plot plans, and equipment/instrument lists for plant, pipeline and related facilities construction projects.
• Assist in development of Project Scopes, Engineering/Design Scopes, and Construction Scopes of Work for contracts with third parties.
• Attend project meetings to understand customer needs and provide technical input for efficient designs.
• Review man-hour estimates and work schedules to assure efficient project execution.
• Coordinate distribution of design packages to ensure input from all stakeholders and information exchange.
• Provide design and drafting services for time/budget critical projects and for preliminary project development.
• Communicate with vendors for material quotes and availability; create parts lists from material take-offs.
• Develop material data sheets and generate material requisitions for approvals.
• Maintain records of documents and correspondence related to technical designs.
• Participate in development and maintenance of Company standard drawings.
• Maintain high level of expertise and access to specialty resources and technology.
• Travel to facility sites by air and/or automobile as required.
