Job summary

RTX, Pratt & Whitney division, is hiring for a Senior Durable Tooling Designer to support on-site tooling design and manufacturing in a hands-on production environment. You’ll influence tooling standards and coordinate across internal teams, suppliers, and engineering partners to deliver durable tooling solutions for engines and power systems.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, project management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and cost targets are met

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR an advanced degree with 3+ years, OR 8+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, machining principles, and blueprint interpretation.
• Proficiency in NX or equivalent CAD tools
• Demonstrated experience with durable tooling design and dimensioning
• Working knowledge of process planning, machining operations, and material characteristics
• Strong decision-making, communication, and project management skills

Responsibilities

• Review tooling packages to define scope and technical requirements.
• Lead concept development and design reviews for new and legacy programs.
• Develop cost estimates for tooling design and build activities.
• Complete export compliance reviews for drawings, CAD models, and tooling commodities.
• Validate supplier technical packages and ensure quotes meet requirements.
• Approve durable tooling purchase orders for new designs, modifications or repairs.
• Evaluate supplier nonconformances and lead RRCA efforts.
• Influence updates to tooling design manuals and standard work.
• Ensure adherence to tooling-related processes, EHS and quality standards.
• Support tool management software deployment at MC&O sites.
• Review designs for manufacturability and resolve producibility challenges.
• Collaborate in an integrated product development environment.
• Communicate clearly with team members, stakeholders, and leadership.
• Travel 5–10% to assigned MC&O locations and local suppliers
