Job summary

Lemurian Labs is building a domain-specific language and compiler toolchain to program machine learning models. As a Senior DSL Compiler Engineer, you’ll focus on the compiler frontend, including scanning, parsing, AST design, and passes, while ensuring robust memory management with ARC in a custom environment.

You will design type and shape inference, craft clear diagnostics, and participate in end-to-end software lifecycle, collaborating closely with peers to advance next-generation AI

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS/CE or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing domain-specific languages.
• Deep expertise in compiler frontend engineering: lexical analysis, parsing, AST design, semantic analysis, and compiler passes.
• Strong experience with type inference and shape inference systems.
• Strong professional C++ background with modern C++ standards.
• Deep understanding of ARC concepts and object lifetime management, including shared_ptr/weak_ptr/unique_ptr with proprietary ARC.
• Experience designing compiler diagnostics that are clear and useful.
• Experience across the full software engineering lifecycle: product spec, design, implementation, testing.
• General familiarity with GPUs or accelerators in HPC/ML workloads.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement compiler frontend components including lexer, parser, AST, and compiler passes.
• Design and implement type and shape inference systems for the DSL.
• Create clear, actionable error and warning diagnostics for end users.
• Work within and extend a proprietary ARC memory management system.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and sound design.
• Collaborate through pair programming sessions.
• Contribute to the full software lifecycle and future DSL designs for broader HPC domains.
