Job summary

Targa Resources in Texas is seeking a Project Engineer with a BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and 3–5 years of experience in natural gas gathering, compression, processing, and fractionation.

You will define project scope with management, prepare schedules and budgets, manage contractors, and ensure safety, regulatory compliance, PFDs, and P&IDs across plant projects.

Excellent communication and teamwork are essential to coordinate with operations, engineering, and external partners.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from a 4-year accredited university.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in natural gas gathering, compression, processing, fractionation and/or operations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel).
• Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as organizations outside the company.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel at least 25% of the time.
• Regular and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Select appropriate piping materials, diameters, and thicknesses to meet design requirements.
• Define project scope, goals and deliverables in collaboration with Engineering management, plant management, team members and stakeholders.
• Estimate resources and establish budgets; track timelines and milestones.
• Acquire resources to execute the project by lump sum bidding or T&M; communicate safety plans to contractors.
• Develop and deliver progress reports, requirements documentation and presentations.
• Manage changes in project scope and devise contingency plans.
• Provide technical support to operations (debottlenecking, PSM compliance, and safety reviews).
• Interpret and design PFDs, P&IDs, Plot Plans, Piping Plans, and Isometrics.
• Develop scope of work for engineering, construction, and commissioning activities; track costs and milestones.
• Review contractor performance to ensure quality against drawings and specs.
