Job summary

Penguin Solutions in Newark, California, seeks a Senior DRAM Failure Analysis Engineer with 5+ years in DRAM module burn-in, stress testing, and failure analysis to lead FA efforts and drive system reliability. You will work on DDR4/DDR5, SI/PI, and BIOS tuning in a mission-critical HPC environment.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product teams, and develop advanced stress-testing methodologies while delivering clear 8D reports and technical guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of DRAM burn‑in, stress testing, and failure analysis.
• Expert understanding of DDR4/DDR5/HBM and SI/PI concepts.
• Proven root-cause analysis in HPC environments.
• Linux and Windows root-cause debugging in server environments.
• Experience with high-frequency test equipment such as oscilloscopes.
• AI & Automation Fluency: applying AI tools to real-world problems.
• Proficiency in Python, Perl, or similar scripting languages.
• Knowledge of BIOS tuning, memory controller optimizations, and DRAM training algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform complex FA on DRAM modules and memory subsystems.
• Determine root causes at chip, module, and system levels; present findings to teams.
• Architect and execute debug strategies for system-level failures; analyze memory controller interactions.
• Investigate performance bottlenecks, intermittent failures, and memory errors from PI/SI/thermal stress.
• Lead development of advanced stress test strategies for DRAM modules.
• Mentor junior engineers in waveform analysis, SI debugging, and RCA.
• Generate detailed 8D reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
• Act as technical lead in cross-functional teams to improve design, quality, and manufacturability.
