Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer for the Southeast Region, based in Florida offices. The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering, Florida PE, and 5–10 years of drainage/water resources and FDOT experience.

You will design, model, and permit stormwater systems, supervise staff, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams. Experience with MicroStation, Civil3D, and OpenRoads is essential, along with knowledge of FDOT standards and state regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's in water resources a plus)
• Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
• 5–10 years of drainage/water resources and FDOT experience
• Experience with MicroStation, Geopak, Civil3D, Storm CAD, ORD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA
• Familiarity with FDOT standards and procedures
• Experience with Florida DEP and Water Management Districts
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; post-offer fitness for duty; valid driver's license; MVR

Responsibilities

• Collecting and analyzing data for project plans and reports
• Designing stormwater, storm drain, and erosion control systems
• Modeling hydrologic and hydraulic aspects for transportation projects
• Permitting with regulatory agencies
• Using CADD software (MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil3D, AutoCAD) for project work
• Preparing and modifying engineering reports, calculations, schedules
• Preparing project quantities, costs, specifications, and drawings
• Collaborating across disciplines and mentors staff
• Overseeing design activities and ensuring quality on schedule and budget
• Other professional, management, marketing and networking duties as assigned
