Job summary

Hastings People in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Draftsperson to transform design concepts into detailed technical drawings for restaurant and hospitality spaces. You will produce comprehensive architectural packages and ensure design intent, functionality, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of drafting experience in hospitality, restaurant, retail, commercial interiors, or architectural design.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of construction documentation, detailing, and building systems.
• Experience producing drawing packages from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed architectural drawings and construction documentation for new restaurant openings, renovations, and remodels.
• Develop floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, millwork details, furniture layouts, and equipment plans.
• Translate conceptual designs into accurate technical documentation suitable for construction.
• Ensure drawings comply with applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, and company standards.
• Collaborate closely with Interior Designers, Architects, Consultants, and Project Managers throughout the design and construction process.
• Coordinate drawing revisions and maintain accurate documentation across multiple active projects.
• Review consultant drawings to ensure consistency with overall design intent.
• Support permitting and construction teams by providing technical documentation and responding to drawing-related questions.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Draftsperson to join a growing design team. This role will play a key part in transforming creative concepts into highly detailed technical drawings that support the development of exceptional restaurant and hospitality spaces.

Working closely with the Design, Development, Operations, and Construction teams, the Senior Draftsperson will produce comprehensive architectural drawing packages while ensuring design intent, functionality, and operational efficiency are maintained throughout every stage of a project.

Key Responsibilities

Design Documentation

• Produce detailed architectural drawings and construction documentation for new restaurant openings, renovations, and remodels.

• Identify design conflicts and propose practical solutions before construction begins.
• Ensure consistency across drawing standards, templates, and documentation procedures.
• Assist in developing and refining drafting standards as the company continues to grow.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work alongside Operations and Culinary teams to ensure layouts support efficient workflow and exceptional guest experiences.
• Partner with Construction teams during project execution to resolve technical issues as they arise.
• Support value engineering efforts while maintaining the integrity of the overall design.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of drafting experience within hospitality, restaurant, retail, commercial interiors, or architectural design.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of construction documentation, detailing, and building systems.
• Experience producing drawing packages from concept through construction.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
• Knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and permitting processes is preferred.
