Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP in Pasadena seeks a Senior Drafter to support a major electric utility client. Use AutoCAD or equivalent to develop and modify drawings—one lines, three lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, layout and detail drawings.

The role also involves BOMs, project drawing management and support to engineers/designers, reporting to the Engineering Manager or Supervisor. Strong CAD skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a consulting engineering setting.
  • Proficient with ACAD and Microstation.
  • Strong attention to detail and teamwork.
  • Experience producing BOMs and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Create 2D/3D drawings including one lines and wiring diagrams.
  • Prepare BOMs and manage project drawings.
  • Verify drawings and support engineers/designers.
  • Ensure revisions and change control per standards.

Overview

E2 is looking for a Senior Drafter to join our team in our Pasadena area to support one of the largest electric utility clients. The successful candidate will be using AutoCAD or equivalent software to modify or develop drawings including one lines, three lines, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, layout and detail drawings. Also, support completing bill of material lists, project drawing management and provide support to engineers/designers. The position will work under the direction of a Supervisor and will report directly to the Engineering Manager or Supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize 2D or 3D Computer Aided Design software to create drawings including one lines, three lines, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, layout and detail drawings.
  • Utilize engineering sketches, specifications and supporting documents in the designing, detailing, documenting, and verifying of electrical parts, subassemblies, assemblies or system configurations.
  • Prepare detailed drawings of parts and assemblies from layouts, designs and working drawings including necessary projections, sectional views and standard specifications.
  • Interpret verbal or written direction to initiate a preliminary design.
  • Check and verify the accuracy of drawings prepared by others.
  • Prepare bills of material (BOM) and specifications when drawings are complete. Revise drawings and BOM consistent with engineering changes.
  • Implement revisions and change control per company standards at the direction of senior level designers and engineers.
  • Check field red-lined drawings and generate accurate as-built drawings as needed.
  • Performs required document management functions including tracking, receiving, storing, retrieving, copying/scanning of project documents.
  • Create new project folders and submit project documents to clients.
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relative project information to project design team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience working in consulting engineering firm or equivalent experience in similar role.
  • Proficient in ACAD, Microstation and/or other similar software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Strong understanding of timekeeping and working in team environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Understands project workflows.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Associate degree or higher preferred but not required.
  • Drafting/Design certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a consulting engineering firm environment.
