Job summary

Vanguard seeks a Senior Domain Data Steward to own domain data quality and trust across wealth data assets. You’ll partner with Data Product Managers, IT, and business owners to ensure data is compliant, observable, and production-ready for advisor tools and executive analytics.

You will drive data quality standards, profiling, and end-to-end data flow validation while advocating for robust privacy controls and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 8–10+ years of experience in data stewardship, data management, business analysis, or private wealth operations.
• Strong functional knowledge of Private Wealth Management processes and structures (e.g., client onboarding, household hierarchies, trust/fiduciary accounting, portfolio accounting, alternative investments, or GIPS performance metrics).
• Hands-on ability to write SQL queries to profile datasets, validate data models, trace data lineage, and debug data issues with engineering teams.
• Demonstrated success collaborating with agile software delivery teams, Data Product Managers, and technical engineers to prioritize backlogs and build trusted data assets.
• Operational familiarity with core wealth enterprise systems.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms and observability/collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• Co-Own Domain Roadmaps: translate priorities into prioritized product backlogs and technical milestones.
• Define Data Trust Standards: establish quality benchmarks, validation rules, and acceptance criteria for SDLC and data pipelines.
• Drive Business Adoption: advocate for the domain to enable self-service analytics and adoption of certified data products.
• Proactive Observability & Profiling: conduct data profiling and use observability tools to detect anomalies and pipeline breaks.
• Root-Cause Incident Resolution: lead cross-functional triaging of data defects and implement permanent fixes.
• Data Flow & Ecosystem Integrity: validate end-to-end data flows across core wealth platforms and cloud warehouses.
• Operationalize Privacy & Controls: partner with Risk/InfoSec to implement data protection and privacy standards.
• Audit & Regulatory Readiness: ensure data is complete, traceable, and compliant with regulatory mandates.
• Cross-Team Alignment: align Business Domain Owners, Data Product Managers, and IT Engineering on data quality and excellence.
