Job summary

The GARRETT GROUP seeks a Senior Military Operations Planner to support high‑level strategic and operational planning across DoD and Combatant Commands. You will translate guidance into executable plans, orders, and campaign frameworks for global operations.

Required are 15 years in DoD operations, 5 years in joint/combined planning, and JPME Phase II with SSS. Expect collaboration with senior leaders, interagency partners, and multinational stakeholders to ensure alignment with national defense

Qualifications

• 15 years of DoD military operations experience.
• At least 5 years in joint/combined planning environments.
• 3 years supporting OSD, Joint Staff, CCMD, MAJCOM or equivalent.
• Expertise in Joint Planning Process (JPP) and OP plan development.
• Experience staffing operational plans, orders, and campaign-level products.
• Strong knowledge of national defense strategy and global campaign planning.
• Ability to brief senior leadership and coordinate with interagency partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of strategic and operational plans, OPLANs, CONPLANs, and campaign plans.
• Apply JPP to analyze mission requirements and produce COAs.
• Translate guidance from senior leadership into actionable plans and directives.
• Coordinate across joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational stakeholders.
• Develop planning directives and supporting documentation aligned with strategic objectives.
• Conduct mission analysis, risk assessments, and feasibility evaluations.
• Contribute to exercise planning, wargaming, and after-action analysis.
• Provide SME in global force management and strategic deterrence operations.
• Deliver senior leader briefings and planning products to support decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with DoD directives and planning standards.
