Job summary

Kentro is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support a DoW agency in Washington, DC. The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph and 5+ years of DBA experience across SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.

You will design schemas, secure data, and ensure high availability in a classified environment. Responsibilities include performance tuning, backup/recovery, ETL support, and collaboration with developers and data analysts to enable dashboards and reporting.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience programming, operating, and maintaining databases.
• Proficiency with one or more RDBMS: SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Experience with database security hardening per DISA STIGs.
• Solid knowledge of backup/recovery and high-availability configurations.
• Experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Python, or Bash).

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain RDBMS in a secure, classified environment.
• Design database schemas, indexing, and data models to support requirements.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot, and optimize queries and jobs.
• Perform routine backup, recovery, and DR testing.
• Implement and maintain database security controls per DoW security requirements.
• Support data migrations, integrations, and ETL processes.
• Collaborate with developers, admins, and analysts for dashboards and reports.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and architecture documentation.
• Participate in capacity planning and forecasting for growth.
• Respond to incidents and service requests within SLAs.
• Support patching, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities.
• Develop/update the DSR SOP Manual with prior SOP authoring experience.
