Job Summary

The Senior Documentation Officer-FF&L oversees all functions of the documentation process for Flagstar Financial & Leasing and/or the Public Funding group. This position ensures the accurate and timely preparation, review, and closing of lease and loan transactions. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the closing process, ensuring alignment with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. The position plays a critical leadership role in training staff, maintaining operational excellence, and supporting the growth and success of the business.

Pay Range: $84,878.04 - $112,463.40 - $140,048.77 Pay Range: Local Minimum Wage - $0.00 - $0.00

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead Documentation & Client Management: Supervise the preparation and review of lease and loan documentation, ensuring compliance with internal policy and external regulatory standards. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the closing process.
  • Quality Control & Exception Approval: Perform quality control checks of documentation completed by junior staff. Approve documentation exceptions in line with standard business practices.
  • Industry Expertise & Compliance: Maintain current knowledge of equipment and vehicle leasing and finance, tax regulations, and municipal leasing standards if position applicable. Act as a subject matter expert and recommend procedural updates as needed.
  • Business Process Improvement: Evaluate documentation procedures and propose enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and client experience.
  • Sales Support: Collaborate with Executive Sales Officers to assist with RFP responses, pricing confirmations, and portfolio reviews.
  • Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions
  • Analyzes and resolves problems

ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

  • Education level required: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent
  • Minimum experience required: 10+ Years of banking or industry experience, including at least 5 years in leasing, public funding or municipal finance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong ability to analyze complex documentation and make sound, independent decisions
  • Experience communicating with internal stakeholders and external clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education level preferred: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Finance, Business, or a related field
  • Leasing industry experience 10+ years

Job Competencies:

  • Advanced understanding of equipment and/or vehicle leasing, tax-exempt finance, and public funding regulations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Insert knowledge/skills/abilities required)
  • Occasional travel to main or remote offices or possibly client or industry related events
  • Physical demands (ADA): No unusual physical exertion is involved.
