Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Distributed Systems Infrastructure in Mountain View to drive multi-year re-architecture of the core database stack, enable resource governance, and advance cache and data processing architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or Go.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design/architecture.
• 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or experience with compute/storage/database architecture.
• 1 year of experience with query optimization, distributed caching layers, data replication, or memory/resource efficiency tools.

Responsibilities

• Write and test product or system development code in Java, C++, Python, or Go to design and implement efficient, next-generation distributed caching and database architectures.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies for global Ads data storage and scaling systems.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices regarding testing, maintainability, and compute/memory resource efficiency.
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback to share resource governance standards.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
