Job summary

Capital One in the United States seeks a Sr. Distinguished Engineer to lead technical vision across payment platforms and cloud-native architectures.

You will collaborate with developers, ML experts, product managers and people leaders to shape scalable, secure systems and advance AI-enabled solutions. You will mentor teams, influence strategic investments, and champion engineering excellence while delivering high-performance, low-latency services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• At least 9 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 7 years designing distributed systems.
• At least 7 years with public cloud technologies.
• Experience with payments or money movement is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Articulate and evangelize a bold technical vision across multiple domains and mission critical platforms.
• Proactively propose practical, high-performance solutions to complex problems.
• Partner with executives to set direction for strategic technical investments.
• Lead AI-driven modernization efforts and deploy reusable patterns to scale AI.
