Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Display Hardware Design Engineer to lead electrical design and execution of in-house display development programs, ensuring modules meet system, regulatory, validation, and manufacturing requirements across the lifecycle.

You will work across LCD/OLED platforms, own architecture, schematics, BOMs, layouts, and interface with suppliers and internal teams to deliver robust display modules for automotive applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in automotive display electronics or embedded hardware with module ownership.
• Strong hardware architecture, schematic design, PCB development, and analysis.
• Experience leading DFMEA, worst-case analysis, signal integrity, EMC reviews.
• Ability to collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to drive decisions.
• Familiarity with validation, environmental, durability, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience using Mentor Graphics tools for schematics and PCB workflows.
• EMC-conscious design practices and hands-on EMC support.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical hardware design for in-house display modules from concept to release.
• Develop and review schematics, BOMs, PCB layouts, and design documentation aligned with GM requirements.
• Lead hardware design reviews with internal stakeholders and suppliers (EMC, SI, power integrity).
• Perform worst-case, tolerance, thermal, and circuit compliance analyses.
• Define and validate power architecture and power mode behavior.
• Lead integration of display interfaces (SERDES, eDP/LVDS, touch MCU interfaces).
• Collaborate with software, systems, mechanical, validation, quality, and suppliers to resolve issues.
• Support component selection and sourcing strategy for key semiconductors.
• Ensure design readiness for DV/PV validation and regulatory compliance.
• Create and maintain DFMEA, interface definitions, release-ready docs.
