The Discipline Engineers will be part of a multi-disciplinary technical team responsible for applying GEH's new plant technology to prospective sites, including comprehensive engineering input for new plant proposals, early works agreements, and new product offerings.

In this role, the Mechanical Systems Discipline Engineer will determine how standard plant designs meet application-specific requirements, codes, and standards while incorporating new product modifications. You will focus on providing detailed statements of work, proposal technical write-ups, engineering estimates, schedule development, and risk assessments supporting site selection, permitting, and licensing milestones. Coordination with functional managers on departures from standard products will be necessary to produce cost, cycle, and risk estimates for new plant opportunities. You will also ensure timely and within-budget delivery of early works projects and new product developments, partnering with internal and external technical teams.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Report to the Plant Engineering Manager (solid line) and the Discipline Engineering Manager (dotted line).
  • Ensure proposals and early works packages align with our standard offering, identifying technical departures and providing associated costs, cycles, and risks.
  • Establish and maintain effective discipline-specific design interfaces documented in proposals and contracts.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal discipline teams and interface with external partners, customers, and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Assist proposal and early works teams with estimates, schedules, and risk identification.
  • Guide external engineering resources to ensure quality, flexibility, and cost efficiency.
  • Support business development initiatives and protect intellectual property rights.
  • Contribute to GEVH initiatives, process improvements, and ensure adherence to nuclear safety and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive engineering design or project leadership experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the nuclear industry or large-scale power plant construction.
Eligibility Requirements
  • Preferred location: Wilmington, NC; remote candidates considered.
  • Up to 10% domestic and international travel (15% if remote).
  • Ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience liaising across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Proven leadership, strategic thinking, creativity, and ability to deliver results.
  • Team management experience with highly experienced engineers.
  • Project management skills including communication, risk, and scheduling.
  • EPC experience, especially in power plants.
  • Understanding of nuclear technology.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, and manage programs to enhance business knowledge and capabilities.

The salary range is $128,000 – $202,000, influenced by experience, education, and skills. The role includes bonuses and benefits such as health coverage, retirement plans, tuition assistance, and more. The position closes on May 16th, 2025.
