Job summary

Middlesex County is seeking a Motor Vehicle Operator to provide transportation to residents within the county. You will operate buses and other vehicles, assist passengers including seniors and those with mobility needs, and ensure safety and cleanliness on every trip.

You must hold a valid NJ CDL-B with Passenger endorsement; this is a Safety Sensitive role subject to DOT rules. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety precautions when dealing with elderly and disabled passengers.
• Ability to learn the geography of the jurisdiction.
• Ability to communicate in English to perform duties; ASL or Braille may be considered as acceptable forms.
• Valid NJ CDL-B or higher with Passenger endorsement; unrestricted preferred; restricted licenses may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Transport residents within Middlesex County to and from destinations.
• Provide curb-to-curb services and assist passengers in and out of vehicles.
• Operate wheelchair lifts and assist passengers in wheelchairs.
• Inspect vehicle at start and end of trips for safety and cleanliness.
• Prepare daily reports and communicate schedule changes to Dispatch.
• Maintain professional, courteous conduct and comply with safety regulations.
