Job Summary

Equinix is a global enterprise with operations across 6 continents and over 200 IBXs. Additionally, we support the xScale franchise through various service agreements. This role is for a leader to run a global controllership organization within xScale. The individual will report directly to our VP Corporate Controller but will operate within a matrixed organization supporting the VP of Finance and others. This position offers the opportunity to lead global accounting operations, xScale-related finance initiatives, and define Controllership Operating Models, system enablement, and ensure accounting accuracy under US GAAP, IFRS, and other local GAAP standards. The individual will work with cross-functional departments at all levels and facilitate communication across AMER, EMEA, and APAC regions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop a global team of over 25 accounting professionals within xScale Controllership, located in Singapore, Tampa, FL., Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Bogota, Colombia.

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, revenue, lease, construction accounting, and fixed asset management. Ensure compliance with all regulatory matters, including ESG-related (CSRD), statutory reports, tax, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with Global Shared Services (AR & AP), Global Controllership (Statutory Reporting, Technical Accounting, Consolidations, Assurance), Tax, FP&A, and Treasury to ensure timely completion of tasks.

  • Partner with various non-finance stakeholders, providing advice, clarity, and leadership on business processes. Stakeholders include Sales & Sales Administration, Procurement, Operations, Legal, and others.

  • Act as a communication and escalation point with senior leadership within Equinix, xScale, and JV investors where necessary.

  • Ensure timely preparation of comprehensive financial statements for xScale, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flows, and KPIs.

  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing insights for decision-making.

  • Maintain adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and policies, including US GAAP, IFRS, and others.

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate smooth audits of JV and legal entities.

  • Provide insights to support decisions, considering JV and Equinix impacts, including deconsolidation and financial effects.

  • Manage time effectively across multiple global time zones.

  • Build and scale the team, focusing on process optimization, automation, and systems assessment.

  • Understand and operate within a matrix reporting structure.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant with a degree in Accountancy; minimum 10 years of experience, including at least 5 years in people management within global enterprises, with a background in operational and technical accounting such as Financial Reporting, GL, Fixed Assets, Revenue, and Intercompany transactions.

  • Knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, and financial compliance.

  • Proven leadership with a positive attitude, attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Experience with Oracle EPM, Hyperion PBCS, OneStream (preferred), and MS Office.

  • Public accounting experience, with Big 4 preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance.

  • CPA or similar professional qualification.

The targeted pay range in the United States for this position in San Francisco, CA / Bay Area is $250,000 to $310,000 per year. Compensation varies based on skills, experience, education, and training. This range reflects base pay only and does not include bonuses, equity, or benefits. Bonus and equity may be offered depending on the role.
