Job summary

Lilly is seeking a Senior Director, Strategic Alliances to lead external CMC collaborations within SMDD, driving speed, value and world-class execution for drug substance and product development. The role coordinates with PRD, CDMOs, quality, and procurement to ensure reliable supply and robust governance across a dynamic, global landscape.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, strong communication, and extensive pharma CMC experience, with travel up to 25% and Indianapolis

Qualifications

• Minimum B.S. in Chemistry, Engineering or Biosciences.
• Minimum 15 years of CMC experience in pharma with at least 5 years enabling novel CMC technologies/supply chain via contract manufacturing organizations.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain strategic partnerships with external partners for drug substance and drug product development.
• Align PRD/SMDD strategic requirements with cross-functional leaders to external collaborators.
• Lead the transfer of novel SMDD technology for GMP production with CDMOs.
• Monitor capacity, quality and performance; govern external operations with CDMOs and drive best practices.
• Manage relationships and mitigate business risk; communicate with internal and external stakeholders to drive alliance health.
• Oversee Laboratory Informatics alignment with SMDD goals and ensure issue management and governance.
