Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director, Solutions Architecture based in the United States.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced solutions architecture professional to shape how complex healthcare technology solutions are designed and delivered. You will lead a team of eight Solution Architects, setting the technical standards, operating model, and resource strategy needed to support a growing portfolio of enterprise implementations. Working in a player-coach capacity, you will combine strategic leadership with hands-on technical judgment and client engagement. You will collaborate closely with engineering, delivery, configuration, and quality teams to ensure solution design remains aligned with implementation goals. You will also build scalable processes, tools, and training that promote consistency and excellence across the team. This remote-first role offers the opportunity to influence mission‑critical healthcare platforms while working with senior client stakeholders.

Accountabilities
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of eight Solution Architects, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career progression.
  • Own the Solution Architecture operating model and capacity planning, determining the team structure, required skills, and allocation of resources across a growing implementation portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for solution design, including guiding clients toward existing platform capabilities, documenting business and functional requirements, and designing future‑state workflows.
  • Foster a customer‑focused approach that balances responsiveness and flexibility with constructive guidance when requested solutions are not feasible or appropriate.
  • Lead escalations involving disputed solution designs, technical constraints, or conflicts between proposed solutions and commercial commitments.
  • Balance workloads and account assignments as implementation activity and business needs evolve.
  • Partner with Solution Owners, Forward Deployed Engineers, Platform Configuration, Quality Assurance, and Technical Program Managers to keep solution design aligned with delivery plans and timelines.
  • Represent the Solutions Architecture function in cross‑functional planning and discussions with executive stakeholders at complex or escalated client accounts.
  • Develop repeatable training resources, templates, documentation, and playbooks to ensure consistent solution quality across the team.
  • Support the organization’s growth by continuously improving team processes, technical standards, and delivery practices.
Requirements
  • At least 15 years of experience in solution architecture, technical consulting, or comparable client‑facing technical roles, including substantial experience in healthcare.
  • At least 5 years of direct people‑management experience leading technical teams, such as Solution Architects, Forward Deployed Engineers, or technical consultants.
  • Familiarity with large, complex, mission‑critical enterprise platforms, particularly claims systems, utilization management platforms, or similar healthcare infrastructure.
  • Strong decision‑making skills and the ability to lead through ambiguity, changing priorities, and fast‑moving business environments.
  • Excellent technical judgment, with the ability to assess complex technical challenges while also providing effective coaching and people leadership.
  • Proven ability to build credibility with client executives, communicate difficult decisions, and manage expectations when proposed solutions cannot meet specific requirements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills, including experience influencing senior client and internal leadership.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with practical problem‑solving and team development.
Nice‑to‑have Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of payer operations, utilization management, or prior authorization.
  • Experience with FHIR‑based integrations, including Da Vinci standards, as well as legacy payer integration patterns.
  • Experience scaling technical teams during periods of rapid organizational growth.
  • A strong track record of presenting to and influencing executive‑level client stakeholders.
Benefits
  • Annual salary range: $225,000–$250,000 USD.
  • Additional bonus compensation as part of the total compensation package.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life and disability insurance.
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
  • Flexible paid time off and company holidays.
  • Up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave.
  • Pet insurance.
  • Remote‑first working arrangement within the United States.
  • Approximately 10% travel, including potential travel to Boston, Massachusetts, for new‑hire onboarding and occasional in‑person team meetings and company events.
