Overview

Job Description: Position leads all firm wide revenue cycle management teams and activities, including time entry, billing, collections, and cash applications, and co-manages the firm’s banking relationships. Position provides direct supervision, mentoring, and strategic direction for direct reports and supports each in their respective efforts to propel continual advancements in team engagement, tools, and processes towards greater efficiencies; all while maintaining the highest customer service standards. Position provides leadership on related policies and supports the CFO and senior leadership in managing risk and advancing the firm’s profitability and ability to attract and retain talent. A hybrid work schedule is available for this position.

Reporting Relationship: This position reports directly to the CFO. This position directly supervises Senior Manager, Time and Billing; Director of Client Finance Services; and Manager, Cash Applications and Credit Balances.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develops and executes on the department’s short and long term strategic roadmap, translating department goals and priorities into strategic plans for the teams and areas under the Position’s purview, partnering with members of the department to drive, track and report progress.
  • Responsible for optimizing all teams, resources and programs that expedite time entry, billing, collections, and the application of cash receipts with the utmost accuracy and high client service standards.
  • Motivates, mentors and manages direct reports for successful growth in their skills and responsibilities, advancing their impact on the firm, the engagement of their teams, and each manager’s potential for professional advancement.
  • Leads efforts to shorten the revenue cycle and minimize the ongoing investment in Work in Progress and Accounts Receivable, and passionately leads towards maximum accuracy and quality of reported inventory.
  • Collaborates with staff and attorneys to achieve consensus on measures to improve short and long term individual billing attorney practice management.
  • Selects and manages tools, vendor relationships, and staff for the highest service standards; leveraging concise, timely, and actionable information to earn and retain internal and external clients.
  • Solves problems and improves efficiency to ensure continual improvement within teams and collaborates with other managers, clients, and vendors regarding all functions within purview.
  • Serves as the leading credit professional, including managing intake procedures, maximizing recoveries on challenged inventory, providing strategic counsel to staff, partners and leadership, client negotiations, and managing outside collection services.
  • Supports the CFO as needed, including co-management of banking relationships, credit facilities, standby letters of credit, cash management services, and short term investments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in Finance or Accounting.
  • Highly professional, a strong leader and able to work effectively both independently and with all levels of personnel in an extremely fast-paced environment where client service and quality standards are very high.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to assess processes, recommend and implement improvements.
  • Financial analysis skills and the ability to assess business situations to minimize losses and maximize recoveries on challenged inventory.
  • Strategic thinker who balances firm goals with detailed analytics for timely decision making.
  • Written and verbal communications skills, excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail, and ability to strategize, multi-task and follow through.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of the legal process with knowledge of time, billing and collections, and proficiency with detailed account reconciliations.
  • Excellent PC skills, particularly in MS Excel and Word.

In accordance with applicable Federal and State laws, the anticipated annual base salary range is location-dependent and listed as follows: Boston, MA: $196,500 to $302,500; Rochester, NY: $178,500 to $275,000; New York, NY: $216,000 to $332,750; Long Island, NY: $216,000 to $332,750; Washington, DC: $196,500 to $302,500; Chicago, IL: $196,500 to $302,500; Providence, RI: $178,500 to $275,000. Additional contingent compensation may apply based on performance, location, experience, and qualifications.
