Job summary

Calance is seeking an engineering leader to build and lead a five-person Senior Staff Engineer team focused on resilience and recovery across a global factory footprint.

You will own the recovery architecture for tier one systems, validate recovery through tests, and drive the engineering delivery of manufacturing continuity with dual data centers and cyber recovery. This is an onsite role with locations in Milpitas, CA or Irvine, CA.

Qualifications

• Typically twelve or more years in infrastructure engineering with leadership of senior staff.
• Ownership of a disaster recovery or business continuity programme at enterprise scale with evidenced outcomes.
• Credibility in at least three areas: compute/virtualisation, networking, storage or cloud architecture.
• Direct experience engineering cyber recovery with immutable backups and orchestrated restore.
• Track record influencing across peer engineering organisations without formal authority.
• Experience presenting technical risk to executive/audit audiences.
• Experience setting technical requirements for large managed service providers through transitions.
• Leading a geographically distributed technical team including APAC reports.

Responsibilities

• Own recovery architecture for tier one systems, including active-active topology and failover paths.
• Lead the recovery validation regime; prove recoverability with evidence in the defined window.
• Own manufacturing continuity program: dual data centres, segmentation, and cyber recovery for factory systems.
• Build cyber recovery capabilities with immutable backup and orchestrated restore.
• Recruit, develop and retain five Senior Staff Engineers top-quartile talent.
• Delegate decisions to engineers while maintaining alignment with security and suppliers.
• Oversee cross-distance leadership; empower a remote engineer to be as influential as CA teams.
• Chair resilience architecture forum; arbitrate designs across organisations for resilience needs.
• Define resilience requirements for a large MSP, including during transitions.
• Represent resilience engineering to IT leadership and audit audiences.
