Location: San Mateo, CA, US

Dompe is an Italian bio-pharmaceutical company that focuses on innovation, where a long tradition in the field of personal wellness goes hand-in-hand with a commitment to research and development to meet unsatisfied therapeutic needs.

Established in 1940 in Milan, Dompé has an industrial and biotech research hub in L’Aquila, in addition to branches in Europe (Barcelona, Berlin, Paris and Tirana). Job Summary:

The Senior Director, Real World Evidence (RWE) leads the strategic design and execution of real-world data and evidence generation initiatives that support clinical value, market access, and lifecycle management goals. This individual is accountable for building a robust, compliant RWE agenda within the Evidence Generation team that complements clinical trial evidence across indications. The Senior Director partners closely with R&D, Market Access, and the Global Medical Leads to ensure evidence generation is scientifically rigorous and strategically relevant, and manages a team of RWE scientists responsible for translating real-world data into decision-ready insights.

Job Description:
Integrated evidence strategy
  • Co-Own the Integrated Evidence Generation Plan (iEGP) across all Dompé indications—NAION, NK/PCED, AKC, oGVHD, and neurology pipeline—ensuring evidence priorities are strategically sequenced to support regulatory, payer, and scientific exchange goals
  • Partner with Global Medical Leads to translate indication-specific medical strategy into evidence priorities, identifying gaps between current data and the evidence needed for launch readiness, label expansion, or lifecycle management
  • Represent Evidence Generation in cross-functional governance forums including the Integrated Evidence Plan review, and serve as the senior MA voice in discussions with Clinical Development on trial-adjacent evidence needs
  • Maintain a forward-looking view of the competitive evidence landscape across indications, ensuring Dompé's evidence plan addresses emerging gaps or challenges
RWE strategy and study design
  • Provide strategic direction and senior oversight to the Associate Director of RWE & Epidemiology, ensuring the real-world evidence and epidemiology program is aligned to the iEGP and addresses payer, regulatory, and scientific exchange needs
  • Partner with Market Access and Commercial on the evidence requirements for HTA submissions and payer-facing evidence packages, ensuring the RWE and epidemiology program produces outputs that are credible, timely, and decision-grade
  • Represent RWE and epidemiology evidence in cross-functional medical strategy discussions, ensuring real-world data complements and contextualizes clinical trial data in the scientific narrative
Cross-functional alignment
  • Partner with R&D, Market Access, and Global Medical Leads to align evidence with payer and clinical needs
  • Support translation of RWE findings into publications, dossiers, and internal strategic recommendations
  • Manage relationships with external research partners, academic collaborators, and data vendors
Team and budget management
  • Build, mentor, and manage a team of RWE scientists and associate directors
  • Manage RWE budget and prioritization across therapeutic areas
  • Establish study prioritization criteria in partnership with senior Medical Affairs leadership
Qualifications:
Required
  • PhD, PharmD, or equivalent in epidemiology, health outcomes, biostatistics, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in real-world evidence, epidemiology, or outcomes research
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing observational research
  • Strong understanding of real-world data sources (claims, EHR, registries)
  • Experience presenting evidence to internal and external stakeholders
Preferred
  • Experience in ophthalmology, immunology, or specialty care therapeutic areas
  • Publication record in peer-reviewed real-world evidence studies
  • Experience building an RWE function within a growing Medical Affairs organization
Competencies:
  • Methodological rigor: designs observational studies that hold up to scientific and regulatory scrutiny
  • Strategic prioritization: allocates limited evidence-generation resources to the studies with the highest clinical and business value
  • Stakeholder translation: converts complex real-world data into insights that HEOR, Market Access, and clinical teams can act on
