Job summary

The Alliance for Decision Education, based in Bala Cynwyd, PA, seeks a Deputy Director of Public Policy to lead state and national policy efforts. This full-time role blends onsite and remote work with a hybrid schedule, travel 30–50% of the time, and reporting to the Director of Public Policy.

The Deputy Director will shape legislative strategy, develop policy and outreach, engage with policymakers, and manage lobbying partnerships across states, districts, and coalitions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years leading legislative advocacy in education.
• Deep knowledge of state education governance and K-12 financing.
• Proven ability to plan and align organizational strategy.
• Experience guiding complex cross-sector policy campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Lead lobbying strategies with policy leaders and coalitions.
• Monitor policymaker activity at state and regional levels.
• Draft legislative memos and policy briefs.
• Translate bills into actionable briefs and testimony.
• Coordinate with Policymaker Fellows and Senior Manager, Public Policy.
• Manage relationships with retained lobbying firms.
