Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated is seeking a Senior Director, Business Operations Lead to oversee product-level business leadership within CMTO, focusing on CDMO management, cost of goods governance, and readiness planning.

You will drive performance metrics, prepare executive updates, and collaborate across Finance, Legal, Sourcing, and Manufacturing to optimize network strategies and continuity of supply.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated industry.
• Demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing, external manufacturing, CDMO management, or technical operations business processes.
• Experience with product-level business management in a manufacturing environment, including governance, cost oversight, performance monitoring, and cross-functional decision support.
• Proven experience with COGM assessment, tracking, and cost improvement planning.
• Experience leading or contributing to governance forums tied to manufacturing performance, supply strategy, and business risk.
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment and influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
• Strong business acumen connecting operational performance to product strategy and financial outcomes.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for senior leadership materials.
• CDMO relationship and business management knowledge.
• Product-level manufacturing governance and KPI development experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead product-level business leadership across CMTO for assigned products.
• Represent business priorities in CDMO relationships and governance forums.
• Define and monitor readiness and growth requirements, including vendor selection support.
• Maintain end-to-end understanding of CDMO/site performance and cost drivers.
• Develop and evolve product KPIs focusing on cost, efficiency, service, and performance.
• Create dashboards and management reporting for governance and reviews.
• Own COGM, including cost expectations, drivers, and reduction plans.
• Drive decisions on capacity, sourcing, continuity, and network considerations.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Sourcing to align contracts with priorities.
• Support scenario planning for DST, enterprise, and manufacturing assessments.
• Translate strategic priorities into actionable plans with milestones and accountability.
