Job summary

Camco Manufacturing in Greensboro, NC seeks a Director of Product Engineering to lead the engineering team from validated brief to production-ready launch. This hands-on role partners with PM, Product Implementation, and SVP of Engineering to ensure disciplined, stage-gate product development.

You will mentor engineers, manage milestones, and drive documentation, standards, and supplier qualification to achieve production readiness and quality excellence.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering or product development experience.
• 5+ years in a people leadership role.
• Experience bringing physical consumer products from concept through production release.
• Strong cross-functional leadership and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Experience with DFM/DFA and production cost optimization.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering leadership and team development across design, product engineering, and compliance roles.
• Lead NPD process and stage-gate execution from discovery to production release.
• Own milestone tracking, risk management, and portfolio visibility across multiple projects.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Operations, QA, Purchasing, Sales, and Marketing.
• Oversee manufacturing, quality, supplier integration, and regulatory compliance.
• Drive cost reduction and value engineering while maintaining quality.
