Job description

Senior Director of Operations

Los Angeles, CA | Full-Time

Anera Collective is excited to partner with a fast-growing, high-caliber direct-to-consumer brand on their search for a Senior Director of Operations. This is a rare opportunity to step into a company with real momentum and build the operational engine that powers its next phase of growth.

About the Company

Our client is a growth-stage direct-to-consumer brand based in Los Angeles, operating a thriving e-commerce business alongside a physical retail presence. The company is scaling with intention and looking for a senior operator to own the operational backbone of the business as it moves into its next chapter.

The Role

The Senior Director of Operations is a critical leadership hire reporting directly to the CEO. This person owns inventory planning end to end and ensures the company's logistics and 3PL infrastructure runs cleanly and scales with the business.

Critically, this person doesn't just manage the day to day. They build the systems and templates that make the whole company smarter, and they communicate findings in clear, executive ready written summaries that drive decisions. They're organized to a fault, tech forward by nature, and comfortable owning both the operational model and the narrative around it.

What You'll Own
Inventory Management
  • Own inventory health across all channels, including e-commerce, retail, and wholesale if applicable
  • Ensure buy quantities align with forecasted demand and marketed products; proactively flag risk and opportunity
  • Lead markdown and clearance strategy in partnership with merchandising
  • Build inventory reporting templates that give the team real time visibility into sell through, weeks of supply, and reorder triggers
Logistics & 3PL Relationships
  • Own the 3PL relationship end to end, including SLA compliance, billing accuracy, fulfillment performance, and issue resolution
  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics, freight, and carrier relationships
  • Build operational scorecards and reporting cadences to track fulfillment cost per order, on time rates, and carrier performance
  • Drive continuous improvement across the fulfillment operation with documented processes and clear accountability
Operational Planning & Reporting
  • Design templates and reporting frameworks that bring consistency and clarity across inventory and operations
  • Develop a rolling operational forecast that integrates the marketing calendar, buying decisions, and channel performance in real time
  • Partner with performance marketing and merchandising to ensure unit buys are tightly coordinated with demand, including affiliate volumes and gifted product that impact sell through
  • Translate reporting into concise written summaries and recommendations that non operations stakeholders can act on
Supply Chain / Production (Situational)
  • Depending on org structure, may also oversee production coordination and vendor management, excluding design and creative direction
  • Manage supplier lead times, purchase order workflows, and delivery timelines in partnership with the merchandising team
Who You Are
  • 8 to 12 years of experience in operations, supply chain, or logistics, ideally within DTC, e-commerce, or consumer products
  • A builder. You don't inherit systems, you create them. Your reporting templates and operational frameworks become the standard for the teams around you
  • A communicator. You write clearly and concisely. Your weekly ops recaps don't require a translator; they give leadership exactly what they need to make a call
  • Tech forward. You actively seek out tools, automation, and AI assisted workflows that reduce manual work and increase accuracy. You're not waiting for someone to hand you a better system, you build it
  • Deeply organized. You run tight, repeatable processes, maintain clean documentation, and create structure that others can follow without you in the room
  • Cross functional by nature. You know how to work with a merchandising team, a performance marketing lead, and a warehouse in the same week, and you understand how their decisions ripple into your plans
  • You've owned a 3PL relationship and know what good fulfillment performance looks like, and what to do when it breaks down
  • Startup or scale up experience strongly preferred; you know how to build without over engineering
Nice to Have
  • Experience with ERP/OMS/planning tools (e.g. Shopify, NetSuite, Cin7, Inventory Planner, etc.)
  • Background in DTC, apparel, or consumer lifestyle brands
  • Experience supporting a business through a sale, raise, or operational transition
Compensation
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
  • Performance bonus eligibility
