Job summary

University of South Carolina Upstate seeks an Executive Director of Housing and Residential Life to oversee on-campus housing operations, staffing, and budgeting. The role requires coordinating with Facilities Management, Dining, Enrollment Services, and the Registrar to ensure occupancy and revenue goals align with university priorities.

The position manages an $8M revenue portfolio and a main $3–4M spend budget, directing policies, staff training, and campus housing strategies.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 5+ years of experience; master’s preferred for advanced leadership.
• Master’s degree preferred in Student Personnel Services or related field with 5 years related experience; budget management and staff supervision valued.
• Strong knowledge of housing operations, finances, and policy development; familiarity with housing information systems and Excel is essential.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements administrative policies for physical and fiscal management of residential facilities.
• Plans, supervises, trains, and directs housing staff; oversees hiring, evaluation, and staff development.
• Manages occupancy, rents, and use of student housing software; coordinates with Enrollment Services and Registrar’s Office.
