This role is central to advancing critical social safety net initiatives, such as SNAP and Medicaid, by overseeing cross-functional teams and aligning delivery execution with strategic priorities.

The Senior Director will be accountable for program outcomes, operational consistency, and continuous improvement across a complex portfolio. Working closely with senior leadership and external partners, this position requires deep expertise in civic technology, safety net systems, and human-centered service design.

Accountabilities
  • Lead program delivery across the full safety net portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with measurable impact.
  • Define and implement best-in-class delivery standards, including project management frameworks, risk mitigation, compliance integration, and partner engagement practices.
  • Oversee and coach program directors and delivery leaders, building a consistent model for program leadership, accountability, and performance.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align day-to-day delivery with organizational strategy, ensuring responsiveness to evolving needs in the safety net ecosystem.
  • Develop and implement practices for consistent project scoping, kickoff, documentation, knowledge sharing, and retrospectives to embed learning across the organization.
  • Act as a trusted delivery voice with government partners and funders, building confidence and trust in program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with finance and resource management teams to ensure financial stewardship, proper staffing, and alignment of resources with strategic priorities.
Requirements
  • 12+ years of experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects or programs, with accountability for delivery outcomes.
  • Deep expertise in SNAP and/or Medicaid policy and operations, with proven success working at the intersection of technology and government.
  • Strong background in civic technology, human-centered design, and public-sector service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to align execution with strategy and influence decision-making at senior levels.
  • Proven success managing project budgets, aligning with funding streams, and anticipating risks.
  • Exceptional facilitation, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complexity for diverse audiences.
  • Experienced manager with a track record of coaching and developing senior program leaders.
  • Skilled at building trusted relationships with government leaders, funders, and cross-functional collaborators.
  • Experience leading teams through change, implementing operational discipline, and embedding new delivery practices across organizations.
  • Proficiency with delivery and resource management tools (e.g., Asana, Airtable, Jira) and comfort adopting new systems.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary range: $154,891 to $189,613 annually, depending on location and experience.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with up to 100% coverage for select plans.
  • Employer contributions of up to 80% toward dependent and family coverage.
  • 401(k) with employer match up to 5%, depending on years of service.
  • Generous time off, including open personal time, 16+ paid holidays, paid sick time, and an annual year-end closure.
  • Paid parental and family leave, plus 4 weeks of paid sabbatical after 4 years of service.
  • Remote-first workplace across the U.S., with collaborative working hours (10 AM – 3 PM PT).
  • Professional development stipend ($1,000 annually, with rollover up to $2,000).
  • Laptop, home office setup stipend, and monthly phone/internet reimbursement.
  • Supportive, collaborative, and mission-driven work environment.
