South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce is seeking a Director of Communications in Columbia, SC to lead SCMC's communications strategy and execution for media, members, and leadership. The role requires a blend of traditional corporate communications and political acumen to navigate complex landscapes and act as a trusted advisor on all messaging.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Political Science, Journalism, Public Policy, or related field.
• 5-7 years of progressive experience in external communications, political communications, campaign communications, or government press operations
• Track record of managing communications for advocacy groups, trade associations, political campaigns, or government entities

Responsabilidades

• Develop and execute internal and external communications strategies aligned with SCMC objectives.
• Partner with senior leadership to craft messages for major announcements and strategic initiatives.
• Monitor industry trends and media landscape to inform communication strategies.
• Execute crisis communication planning and serve as primary contact during high-pressure situations.
• Build and maintain relationships with political reporters and media outlets.
• Coordinate daily media monitoring and provide real-time guidance to leadership on stories.
• Coordinate messaging during legislative sessions, regulatory proceedings, and policy debates.
• Ensure consistent brand voice across all external channels.
• Manage external communications calendar and align announcements with business priorities.
