About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life:
This is a senior, highly visible seat for someone who works at the intersection of client relations, consulting, finance, data analysis, and complex contract negotiation. You will partner directly with healthcare organizations and senior decision-makers to strengthen relationships, evaluate financial and operational performance, identify opportunities for growth, and lead sophisticated payer and healthcare contracting initiatives.
The role goes well beyond traditional account management. On a given day you might build an Excel model of the financial impact of a proposed reimbursement change, join a call with a client’s executive team to explain what the numbers actually mean, research how a payer has been behaving in a specific market, and then shape the negotiation strategy you will carry into the next contract discussion.
You will be trusted to work independently. No one hands you a script — you decide which questions matter, pull the data, form a point of view, and defend it in front of experienced people. On a great day the work is genuinely enjoyable; on a heavy day it is high-volume and demands precision. We are looking for someone strong and confident enough to handle both.
Because the position is fully remote, success depends as much on communication and follow-through as on analysis. The clients you support should feel they have a strategic partner who anticipates what they need, rather than a vendor who waits to be asked.
Why This Role Stands Out:
- A true consulting seat rather than an account-service seat — you own the strategy, the analysis, and the negotiation outcome
- Direct access to senior decision-makers, including C-suite stakeholders, from the start
- Intellectually demanding work: carve-out structures, reimbursement methodologies, coding, and multi-party negotiations
- Fully remote, with a flexible schedule and unlimited PTO
- A small team of high-caliber professionals — however much experience you bring, you will learn a great deal here
- Visible impact: the contracts you renegotiate and the recommendations you make show up directly in client financial performance
What We're Looking For:
- Five to six or more years in healthcare consulting, client relations, contracting, finance, payer/provider strategy, or government healthcare
- Genuine experience inside the payer, provider, or government healthcare environment — you understand how these organizations actually make decisions
- A proven negotiator who has led and re-led complex healthcare contract discussions
- Strong financial acumen and advanced Excel skills, with the judgment to know which analysis matters
- Highly professional, organized, independent, and strategic — comfortable owning outcomes without close supervision
- Executive presence: you can hold a room of senior stakeholders and stand behind a recommendation
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as the senior strategic relationship lead and trusted advisor for assigned healthcare clients
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with executives at healthcare organizations, payers, providers, government entities, and other stakeholders
- Lead client discussions covering healthcare operations, financial performance, contracting, reimbursement, and growth opportunities
- Evaluate existing healthcare contracts and identify opportunities for financial, operational, and strategic improvement
- Lead and support complex contract negotiations and renegotiations with payers and other healthcare organizations
- Develop negotiation strategy grounded in financial analysis, market conditions, client priorities, and available healthcare data
- Analyze reimbursement structures, contract terms, utilization data, and financial performance to support client recommendationsApply knowledge of healthcare carve-out structures, coding, and reimbursement methodologies when evaluating client opportunities
- Build and maintain Excel-based analyses, financial models, forecasts, reports, and decision-support tools
- Conduct financial, market, operational, and industry research, and translate complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations
- Develop and deliver executive-level presentations to clients and senior leadership
- Monitor payer behavior, reimbursement changes, and industry developments that may affect client strategy
- Manage multiple high-level client initiatives, negotiations, and deliverables at once, and proactively identify opportunities to expand each relationship
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of five to six years of relevant professional experience in healthcare consulting, client relations, contracting, finance, payer/provider strategy, government healthcare, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience working within the payer, provider, or government healthcare environment
- Experience with healthcare carve-out structures, coding, methodologies, or related contracting and reimbursement concepts
- Demonstrated experience negotiating and renegotiating healthcare contracts
- Strong financial analysis and business acumen
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience analyzing complex financial, operational, or healthcare datasets
- Experience conducting research and translating findings into strategic recommendations
Preferred Background:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Public Health, or a related field — MBA strongly preferred
- Approximately ten or more years of relevant healthcare industry experience
- Previous healthcare consulting experience
- Extensive experience leading complex payer or provider contract negotiations
- Experience advising senior executives or C-suite stakeholders
- Experience managing high-value or strategically important healthcare client relationships
This Role Is Likely a Fit If You…
- Move comfortably between high-level strategy and detailed, hands-on analysis depending on what the client needs
- Like owning a number and defending a recommendation, not simply managing a relationship
- Are energized by complex negotiations and willing to challenge assumptions
- Work well with a high degree of autonomy and hold yourself accountable without being managed
- Enjoy building financial models and translating them into language a senior executive will act on
- Handle high volume with precision and stay organized across several sophisticated client relationships at once
This Role May Not Be a Fit If You…
- Prefer a defined playbook and tightly bounded responsibilities
- Want a traditional account-management role with limited analytical work
- Are uncomfortable in Excel or working with large, imperfect financial and healthcare datasets
- Need an in-office setting or externally imposed daily structure to stay productive
- Would rather avoid difficult conversations and high-stakes negotiation
- Require a traditional employer-sponsored benefits package, which is not offered at this time
