Job description

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Director of Business Development in the United States.

The Senior Director of Business Development will lead strategic initiatives to grow clinical trial opportunities and strengthen relationships with sponsors and CROs. This role is critical in driving revenue, expanding market share, and promoting the organization’s network of research sites. You will identify and pursue new business, manage key accounts, and oversee the execution of clinical trial study opportunities from prospecting through contract closure. The position requires a strong mix of strategic thinking, relationship management, and sales execution in a highly regulated environment. It offers the opportunity to influence the company’s growth trajectory while working in a collaborative, dynamic, and fast-paced setting.

Accountabilities
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to increase market share with sponsors and CROs.
  • Identify new business opportunities, conduct need analysis, and close deals to achieve annual revenue targets.
  • Promote the organization’s clinical trial capabilities, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of services and site expertise.
  • Manage sales planning, client visits, and follow-up communications; ensure accurate data entry and reporting in CRM systems.
  • Support strategic account activities, contract negotiations, and budget development for clinical trial studies.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to facilitate successful project handovers and execution of new and ongoing studies.
  • Monitor market developments, competitor activities, and client feedback to inform business strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with FDA, GCP, ICH, and internal standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, life sciences, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ business development experience in clinical research, CROs, or clinical trial sites.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device clients is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority accounts and relationships under pressure.
  • Understanding of clinical trial processes (Phase I–IV) and regulatory frameworks.
  • Self-motivated, strategic thinker with critical problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 20%.
