Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience delivering legal career services in an academic environment.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to work with students, alumni, faculty, staff, employers, and university administration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement annual goals and strategies to maximize employment outcomes across diverse pipelines.
  • Develop and deliver a robust career advising program for JD, LLM, MJ students.
  • Lead employer outreach to law firms, corporations, and public agencies; maintain external presence in Chicago legal community.
  • Oversee the School’s interview programs, including OCI and Patent Law.
  • Coordinate with administration on budget requests, purchases, and service agreements, ensuring compliance with policies.

Senior Director, Law Career Services

Compensation: $90,000/ann – $123,000/ann.

Position Overview

In close partnership with Law School leadership and in alignment with the School of Law Strategic Plan and ABA standards, the Senior Director develops a strategic vision for the Career Services Office (CSO), including data collection and reporting strategies that maximize student placement, oversees office operations and day‑to‑day supervision of the CSO staff, and serves as the public face of the office within the law school and the greater legal community.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement annual goals and strategies for maximizing employment outcomes on diversified employment pipelines, track recent graduate employment outcomes, and collaborate on data reporting to internal and external constituents.
  • Develop and deliver a robust career advising program for all law students (JD, LLM, MJ), including career strategy development, networking, interview preparation, salary negotiation, and alumni career support.
  • Lead employer outreach to law firms, corporations, public interest organizations, government agencies, and the judiciary; maintain external presence and represent the School in the Chicago legal community.
  • Oversee the School’s interview programs, including OCI and Patent Law.
  • Work with the Associate Dean for Administration and the Law School Business Manager on budget requests, purchases, and service agreements to ensure compliance with university financial and contract policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA‑approved law school, in good standing.
  • 5 – 7 years of experience delivering legal career services in an academic environment.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to work with students, alumni, faculty, staff, employers, and university administration.
Minimum Education and Work Experience
  • Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent, or at least 9 years of related experience and training.
Certificates / Credentials
  • Juris Doctor (required).
Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and general familiarity with academic databases.

Physical Demands

Open Position – no required operation of university‑owned vehicles; no direct animal or patient contact.
