Job summary

Charles River Laboratories, Inc. in Reno, NV is seeking a Senior Director, Laboratory Sciences for its Safety Assessment site.

This on-site leadership role directs scientific and operational activities, guides staff, and expands preclinical capabilities while maintaining high-quality study design and reporting. The position requires Masters in immunology/biochemistry or related fields (PhD preferred) with 10 years CRO/pharma lab experience and 5 years of management.

Qualifications

• Education: Masters Degree in immunology, biochemistry or a related scientific discipline required. PhD preferred.
• Experience: 10 years relevant laboratory experience in a contract research organization (CRO), biotechnology, or pharmaceutical environment, working to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
• 5 years management experience, including staff management and development, and financial responsibility including budgets.
• Management and problem solving skills; analytical, quantitative and critical thinking; ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines; executive level decision making.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee department activities to ensure achievement of department objectives.
• Lead interactions for Nevada Laboratory Sciences with Sponsors, consultants and other outside contacts.
• Lead and promote new business development for Laboratory Sciences in Nevada as the primary scientific expert for clients.
• Evaluate opportunities for new technology and implement new scientific initiatives to add services.
• Coordinate study bids, design, conduct, review, staffing, analysis and reporting of Laboratory Sciences studies.
• Represent the organization to industry groups, customers and regulatory agencies; maintain positive employee relations.
