What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):

  1. Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive research security program across the health system
  2. Collaborate with research leadership and stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring regulatory compliance
  3. Stay current on emerging threats and best practices in research security to enhance the program
  4. Lead the Information Security Team in developing and maintaining security policies and procedures
  5. Oversee performance of IT risk assessments and manage remediation activities

What is Required (Qualifications):

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field
  2. 8-12 years of relevant experience and 7+ years of leadership/management experience
  3. Deep understanding of research security principles and cybersecurity threats
  4. Familiarity with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and HITECH
  5. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):

  1. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or CRISC
  2. Experience creating and implementing research security policies and training programs
  3. Familiarity with NSPM-33 and federal funding agency security requirements
  4. Technical proficiency with security technologies, including data loss prevention and encryption tools
  5. Background in specific research areas within healthcare, such as clinical trials or genomics research
